Emergency Shelter Information

In addition to providing support for the regular emergency services and staffing the Operations Center in a crisis, Needham Emergency Management personnel in conjunction with Needham's Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) are ready to open the public shelter at a moment's notice should a situation require it. Under these circumstances we become an extension of the other town emergency services and will share in the care for the safety and well being of all residents.

Primary Emergency Shelter

The  public emergency shelter for Needham is the Center at the Heights (CATH, Senior Center) 300 Hillside Ave.  The Town's secondary shelter is Rosemary Recreation Complex, 178 Rosemary Street. Both locations have emergency power and can be converted to provide a safe sleeping area for many Needham residents by setting up cots. 

The shelter operation would be announced using local media, the telephone notification system, and Rave Alert (Needham's official emergency notification system)

Pets

Pets are permitted in the shelter. But we strongly suggest you make plans for your pets so they will be comfortable in case you have to leave the house for a few days.
