Ways to Vote the April 8, 2025 Annual Town Election

  • In person on April 8, 2025 at your polling location from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
  • In person early voting at the Town Hall, 1471 Highland Avenue, Needham MA.  There will be a single polling location for all precincts.
    • Early voting hours :  
      • Saturday March 29 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
      • Monday March 31 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
      • Tuesday April 1 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
      • Wednesday April 2 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
      • Thursday April 3 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
      • Friday April 4 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.
  • In person absentee is available beginning March 18, 2025, at the Town Clerk's office during Town Clerk business hours
    • Please note that the last day to vote absentee in person in Monday April 7, 2025 at 12:00 noon.  
  • Absentee By Mail 
      • You may request that an absentee ballot be mailed to you at your residence or another address.  Please make sure that you sign your request and include your name, address, and birth date on your request.  You may also request an absentee ballot at the Town Clerk's Office.  
  • Early Vote By mail 
    • Vote by Mail Application Deadline:5:00 pm on Tuesday April 1, 2025
      • Many Needham voters have already applied to  vote by mail for all elections this year.  If you have not, you may still apply to vote by mail by returning the white postcard that was mailed to you in December 2024, by applying online through the Secretary of the Commonwealth's portal, or you may also apply at the Town Clerk’s Office during business hours.
      • If you are voting by mail, please note that the US Postal Service recommends mailing your ballot at least 1 week before election day.
  • UOCAVA if you are on military active duty or a family member or are living abroad temporarily or permanently

Important Deadlines

  • Vote By Mail 

 

      • 5:00 pm Tuesday January 7, 2025: Requests for vote by mail ballots must be received in the Town Clerk's Office or in the Town Clerk's red drop box on the corner of Garrity's Way and Highland Avenue. Any postcards received after the deadline will not be processed for this election.  
        • All requests for vote by mail ballots received by 5:00 pm on Tuesday January 7, 2025 will be at the US Post Office by close of business on Thursday January 9, 2025.
      • 8:00 pm Tuesday January 14, 2025:  All vote by mail ballots must be received by the Town Clerk's Office.
        • If you are planning on returning your vote by mail ballot to the Town Clerk, it must be received by the Town Clerk’s Office by 8:00 pm on Tuesday January 14, 2025.  In addition to mailing it, you may return it to the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours or you may drop it off in the secure red drop box on the corner of Garrity's Way and Highland Avenue.

  1. Absentee Until 12:00 noon on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Testing of Election Tabulators

Election tabulators that will be used for Advance Depositing and at the designated Central Tabulation Facility and on January 14, 2025 for the Special Town Election will be tested beginning at 10:00 am on Thursday January 2, 2025 until 4:00 pm and continuing as needed on Friday January 3, 2025.  The testing will take place in the Highland Room at Needham Town Hall, 1472 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA 02492.  Interested members of the public may view the testing.

Advance Removal and Depositing of Early and Absentee Voting Ballots

The Town will be opening early and absentee voting ballots that have been received beginning on Wednesday January 8, 2025 at 9:00 am and continuing that day until 4:00 pm.   Advance removal will continue on Thursday January 9 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Friday January 10 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and Monday January 13 at 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.   Interested members of the public may view the advance removal and processing of early and absentee voting ballots and may challenge ballots.
