The Highway Division provides maintenance and repair services to all Town-owned surface infrastructure, including 260 lane miles of roadway, 160 miles of sidewalk, 246 miles of berm grass/curbing, and several municipal parking lots. The Division also oversees all roadway-related construction projects, including curb, sidewalk, and traffic signal installations, as well as street paving.
The Division is responsible for the following:
Maintains the public roadway and related traffic systems, allowing the Town’s transportation networks to operate in a safe and cost-effective manner
Patches and repairs potholes, refreshes pavement markings, and performs street sweeping
Installs new street signs and repairs existing signs as needed
Manages the sidewalk replacement program and monitors road conditions to identify priority areas for resurfacing
Develops long-term capital improvement plans for roadways, traffic systems, and parking lots
Leads the parking meter program, including coin collection and meter maintenance
Coordinates the Snow & Ice program, including all snow plowing, snow and ice removal, snow disposal, and chemical de-icing to allow safe roadway travel during winter weather events
