Update June 28, 2024
For the last several months, the Town has been in the process of transitioning to a new billing and collection system for water-sewer bills. Due to unexpected technical difficulties in the conversion process, water and sewer bills were not issued by the Town during the months of October 2023 through February 2024. Despite the technical issues pertaining to the billing system, the system used to measure consumption for water and sewer has continued to operate accurately and without any issues. This means that the consumption volume residents are seeing on their most recent bills is the measured consumption for the associated billing period (which is detailed on your water-sewer bills).
When the Town resumed issuance of water-sewer bills in March, the delayed bills for the October 2023-February 2024 billing period and the most recent billing period were sent in close succession. However, due dates were staggered to allow residents additional time to pay. Given the shortened time between bills, in some cases, the second bill may have included the amount of the first bill as a “Balance Forward” if a payment had not been received and posted prior to the printing of the next bill. Once the billing schedule resumes on its regular frequency again, only amounts that are past due should appear in "Balance Forward". We apologize for any inconvenience the delay in billing may have caused you. Please direct any questions related to water and sewer billing to the Department of Public Works at 781-455-7550 extension 303 and questions related to payments or the balance due to the Treasurer’s office at 781-455-7500 extension 502.
In related news, on Tuesday evening the Select Board voted to delay the implementation of the new water-sewer rates until October 1, 2024 rather than on July 1st as has been done traditionally.
Update June 14, 2024
This week, the Town mailed the April and May 2024 utility bills to residential and commercial accounts. The Current Charges listed on your bill are accurately reflected. In some instances, the Last Payment date and amount may not be reflecting payments made in the month of May. The Total Due is still accurate. If you want to verify the total amount due on your account, please use the online payment portal to confirm your balances.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as the Town has been working to address technical issues with conversion to a new billing system for water and sewer bills. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Residential Properties
For residential properties, water/sewer charges are based on consumption in accordance with the schedule below. Each property owner is issued a bill every three months for the previous three months use. Current water and sewer use charges are not shown on the real estate tax bill. It is only when a water/sewer bill is delinquent that it is added to a tax bill.
If delinquent charges are added to the tax bill, the charges become part of the tax and constitute a lien.
Commercial Properties
For commercial properties, water/sewer chargers are based on consumption in accordance with the schedule. Commercial property bills are issued monthly.
